Healthy & Tasty Sprout Thalipeeth

Sprouts are germinated seeds and  considered a wonder-food because of their high nutritional value. Sprouts ensure blood purification and strengthen the immune system to protect against several diseases.

Thalipeeth is a popular Maharashtrian dish which is made with multi grain flour.  I am born and brought up in Pune, Maharashtra and I enjoy eating and cooking Maharashtrian food, can speak the local language fluently and even people think I am a Maharastrian as I do not have the South Indian look:)

I made Thalipeeth yesterday.  The sprouts were coarsely grounded and mixed with masala in the wheat flour...  I did not use any other flour to make this.  It is  filling and very healthy too!

Ingredients for coarse grinding :

Mixed Sprouts (Chana, Matki, Peas, Moong etc.)
Green Chillies 4 to 5
Ginger - 1 medium piece
Garlic Cloves - 7 to 8

Other ingredients :

Wheat Flour - 1 cup
Finely cut Onion - 1/2 cup
Finely cut coriander leaves 1/4th cup
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Asafetodia - 1 pinch
Coriander - Cumin Powder - 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil - 1 tbsp for kneading
Oil for cooking the Thalipeeth

Method:

Coarsely grind the above ingredients and mix this with all other ingredients and make a dough.  Add oil and knead well.  You may add water in case you require to bind the dough.. Ensure it does not get sticky.   Take a plastic cover and keep a ball size dough inside it and roll it to a small roti.  Transfer this to the tawa.  Cook this on a non stick tawa till both sides are cooked.  Top it with butter and serve with Kolhapuri Thecha or Curd & Green Chutney.
