Kashmiri Kahwa / (Kashmiri Tea)

A hot comforting beverage that hails from the beautiful Kashmir...Kahwa (Qahwa) or Kashmiri Tea. This drink is essentially for very cold weather. Kashmiri Kahwa is an aromatic tea infused with subtle flavours of whole spices.  Its delicate on your palate and perfect for the times when you crave some warmth and yet don’t want all the heaviness of a classic milk tea or coffee!

It is extremely easy to make and very aromatic!  You can add cut almonds which would give crunchiness to this drink!   Kahwa is a drink, that provides warmth, it helps to combat minor flues, and cures chest congestions!

I normally have Green tea and it is very refreshing!  I made this drink yesterday and enjoyed this aromatic drink.... Now you make this cup of tea and enjoy the warmth this drink provides!

Ingredients :

3 Cups of water

2 tsp of Green Tea ( I used Twinings Green Tea)

2 green cardamom

2 cloves

Sugar - 3 to 4 tsp

1 small piece of Cinnamon

Saffron - 4 to 5 strands (soak in little hot water)

Almonds thinly sliced - 2

Method :

Make a coarse powder of 2 green cardamom, 2 cloves, 1 small piece of Cinnamon. Add  this mixture and tea leaves and sugar to the water and boil for 3 to 4 minutes. Strain the tea in cups...While serving add the soaked Saffron & sliced Almonds.  Enjoy your drink!
