Dal Soup - Low Calorie Nutritious Soup

A big bowl of freshly made soup will not only  satisfy your hunger but will also help keep you fuller for longer :)  The other advantage of making Soup at home is you know exactly what goes into your dish!

Making soup is not that difficult... All that you need to do is boil your ingredients in a little stock and blend.  It is really that simple :)

Dear friends, next time you cut vegetables do not throw away carrot and onion ends, mushroom and celery and tomato trimmings, stalks from greens, etc.  You can use them to make your broth which is essential while making your soup.

This soup is a low calorie nutritious soup made from Moong dal and veggies.  My family enjoyed this simple soup that I prepared recently.

Ingredients :

Yellow Moong Dal or Sprouted Moong - 3 tbsp
Grated ginger - 1 tsp
Chopped Garlic cloves - 2
Tomato - 1
Carrot - 1/2
Bottle Gourd (Louki) - 1 small piece
Onion - 1 small
Chopped Beans - 2
Water - 2 cups
Salt to taste
Pepper Powder
Lemon Juice
Chopped Coriander

Method :

Wash the dal and add all the chopped vegetables to it and 2 cups of water and cook it in a pressure cooker till one whistle.  Allow this to cool.  Blend it in a mixer and strain through a sieve.  You will get a smooth stock.

Add salt and pepper powder to this stock and boil it.   Garnish with Coriander leaves, add a dash of lemon juice and serve hot!
