Tamater Ka Shorba





Tomato Soup is one of the favourite Soups that every child will order at a restaurant.. Soups are served before a meal as an appetizer. The best time to enjoy a hot bowl of soup is in the chilled winters or during the rainy season.  This definitely will keep you warm and lift up your spirits!

I had recently made a quick dinner of Cheese Macaroni & Tamater Ka Shorba.  It's a popular Indian soup with tangy flavors of Tomato!  We all enjoyed this delicious soup... You can try out the recipe and do leave your valuable feedback and comments!

Ingredients :

Ripe Tomatoes - 4 to 5 Large
Grated ginger - 1 tsp
Green Chilly - 1
Grated Fresh Coconut - 1 cup
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds & Asafetodia for tempering
Curry leaves - 5 to 6
Garam Masala 1 pinch
Rice Flour or Besan (Bengal gram Flour) - 1 tbsp
Salt and sugar to taste
Coriander leaves for garnishing



Method :

Wash and cut the tomatoes into big pieces.  Add 2 cups of water and cook till they are soft and tender.  Allow it to cool and blend and strain to get the stock.


Add 2 cups of water to the grated coconut, green chilly, grated ginger and grind in the mixer and strain to extract the coconut milk.  Now heat a pan and add the ghee.  Add the Cumin seeds & Asafetodia and when it starts crackling, add the curry leaves.  Now add the rice flour / besan flour and roast lightly.  

Add the tomato stock and coconut milk, garam masala, salt and sugar to taste and simmer it for 2 to 3 minutes.  Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve piping hot.
