Green Stunning Morning Smoothie - Excellent for Diabetic!
My
mom-in-law is a diabetic and takes Insulin regularly. She is a very energetic person and she is an
inspiration to all of us! I am motivated
to see her finish all her work at home like a super express! There are certain days when her sugar level
is down and she is not normal... when her health is not fine we all get worried
:(.
There are around 6 crore diabetics in India & around 36 crore diabetics in the world and is expected to increase in the near future too!
People with diabetes can eat the same foods the family enjoys. Everyone benefits from healthy eating so the whole family can take part in healthy eating. It takes some planning but you can fit your favorite foods into your meal plan and still manage your blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol.
Recently, Rajesh (my husband) took my in-laws to a Seminar "Freedom from Diabetes" by Dr. Pramod Tripathi. It is almost 3 weeks they attended this session and from the very next day, we all at home have stopped consuming milk and milk products at home and have been consuming the Green Smoothie which is recommended for all. Even my 8 year old daughter, Ria likes to have this Smoothie!
I have stopped having tea / coffee and whenever there is an urge to have the beverage, I prefer having Green Tea :)
I
believe prevention is better than cure... so this is one step to keep yourself
fit and there are many diabetic patients who have successfully reversed from diabetics
by consuming this drink and following the diet plan... This drink has a heavenly taste with the goodness of spinach / green leafy
vegetable. This smoothie is packed with some great nutrition and your taste
buds will love it!
This drink will give you energy, improve the digestive system and will bring sugars under control and will kick start the reversal process!
This post is dedicated to all the Diabetic's and consuming this Green Stunning Morning Smoothie everyday in the morning / evening will ensure that you are fit and healthy!
Ingredients :
Spinach - 12 leaves ( you can also use Lettuce/ Green Rajgira leaves/ Ambat Chuka or Khatta Bhaji leaves)
Betel
leaf (Paan)-1
Tulsi
+ Pudina leaves + Curry leaves - a handful
One
or two fruits (Apple/Pear/Guava/Banana/Chikoo) + 2 glass water
Dalchini
Powder - as per taste
Pepper
Powder - as per taste
Rock
Salt - as per taste
Turmeric Powder - a pinch
Lemon
Juice - as per taste
Method :
Blend all the above ingredients in a mixer / blender by adding one glass of water. When all the ingredients are well grounded, add one more glass of water and blend well. Squeeze lemon Juice mix well and serve this chilled. ( I have tried making the Smoothie by using Mango / Watermelon / Papaya & some Flax seeds to this Smoothie).
You have to take this drink within 30 to 60 minutes after waking up as the first drink. You can have water before that but NO tea. You may consume the rest of the juice after your walk / exercise.
Hey dear, I always read your posts and try the recipes that you share. As usually your Green drink recipes is also great. It has so many benefits for the diabetic people. I would definitely make it for my grandmother.
ReplyDeleteThank you Eli :)... Consuming this smoothie has definitely helped by mom -in-law.... She is following the diet prescribed by the doc and has reduced Insulin from 24 units to 2... That is amazing I guess!!

ReplyDeleteHi Neha... My mom in law has definitely benefited from Dr. Tri[athi's treatment! She is off insulin and is taking just half a tablet now... Hats off to my father in law who ensures that she follows a strict diet as directed by Dr. Tripathi and his team. She has more of salads, sprouts, greens, low GI food..and also excercises everyday :)

So what are her typical Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner options while following this diet ? How much was her transition period to this new way of eating ? Does you family no longer consume milk ?
DeleteHi Neha...It took 3 months to finally get to half tablet and completely stop Insulin. She used to have Smoothie, certain days followed only Juice diet, ate small portions.. For Breakfast it is Moong Dosa, Dadpe Pohe,Barley Khichadi, Dhokla,Dosa made from Brown rice and whole urad dal, appe, mixed sprout dosa etc. For lunch, Kapli gehu roti, loads of salad, dal, vegetables, for a change brown rice, jowar roti, soups, sprouts etc. The same for dinner. My inlaws have stopped having milk and milk products.. they have green tea & soups instead. We also very rarely have milk at home. Instead of milk, Coconut milk is used for various preparations and less oil tadka. Hope this information is of some help to you :)

Please take advice from doctor in such a scenario. Even though we consume the Smoothie.. we have balanced diet

I have been on Naturopathy for 45 days and having similar diet, exercise and yoga, sun bathing etc.
I was on insulin 35 units in the morn and 25 at night. within 15 days I was off insulin and my FS came down to 120-140 and PP became 160-190. Also lost 9kg weight as well.
I am taking 2 metformin tabs in a day and soon I will be off that.
Please continue sharing the recipies you follow for your mom in law.
Sharing this very useful for people to regain health that gets deteriorated by allopathy medicies with so many side effects.

DeleteHello Premlata, I have moderate diabetes and I am taking medication (tabs) for past 2 years. I will definitely try your suggestions on diet. One of my problem is portion size. Portion size suggested by doctors is too low and I feed hungry if I limit it to that level. Is there any restriction on portion size with the special diet?
ReplyDeleteAs far as I have seen my in laws they eat every 2 hours and small portions... whenever hungry in between they have salads... I guess this will be of some help to you!

Yes.. you can skip them.. if you get any other green leafy vegetable, you can add them instead or consume it without Tulsi & betel nut.

ReplyDeleteTo get the taste, it is good to add all the greens! You can opt only using Spinach not a problem. This is good for health... so you can consume everyday!
