Healthy Wheat Chocolate Cake

Most of the cakes that we get from the bakery are made out of  Maida (All purpose flour)... I am sure anyone would say are you crazy??? You made Cake from Wheat Flour?... the texture and taste guaranteed is not going to be as good as the Maida Cake!!!

I prove this is wrong as I have made this Healthy Wheat Chocolate Cake and it was a Super Duper Hit.   I made this several times on demand from my daughter Ria, and from my colleagues at office.. We also put some chocolate sauce on top the of the cut pieces and micro waved for a minute and hmmmmm.. it tasted Divine :)

One thing is for sure, this is a guilt-free cake. When you know it's healthy you don’t end up counting how many pieces you ate.  This is a snack which that you can give your kids in their snack box or in the evening with their glass of milk.   It is really easy to whisk and bake too!.

This wheat chocolate cake was  soft, lightly sweet and delicious too... the chocolate sauce topping enhances the taste even more!   If you are ready with all your ingredients, you can make your cake in 25 to 30 minutes.

I immediately tasted the cake after it was cooled and thought to myself... it's not that great as the Maida cake :(.  The next day this cake tasted very different and there was a huge demand for this cake later!.

Let me share the recipe and step by step pictures with you!

Ingredients :

Wheat Flour - 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp
Corn flour 1.5 tbsp
Cocoa Powder - 2 tbsp
Powdered Sugar - 1/2 cup
Oil - 1/4 cup (I used sunflower oil)
Fresh Curd / Yoghurt - 1/2 cup
Flax Seed Powder - 1 tbsp
Baking Powder - 1/2 tsp
Baking Soda - 1/4th tsp
Vanilla Essence - 1/4 tsp
Water - 1/4 cup

Method :

Take a container and add oil and powdered sugar and mix it well.  Add the curd and mix well.  Sieve the Wheat flour, corn flour, baking soda, baking powder, & cocoa powder.  Add the Flax seed powder, Vanilla essence and mix gently.  Add 1/4th Cup water and mix the ingredients to a thick batter. Now grease the cake tin and dust some flour and pour the mixture into it.  Tap it well so that the bubbles will settle down.

Bake the cake in a preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes at 180 degree.  Allow it to cool and as per my experience serve this cake the next day.  You may serve it plain or with loads of chocolate sauce... Enjoy!
