Punugulu - Famous Street Food of Andra!

I was bored making Idli and wanted to make something different from the left over batter... this name and dish is new to me..and found this while surfing the net. I tried my hands at making this 2 to 3 times and it turned out to be super tasty!!

It's a great option to have it like a snack in the evening with your cup of tea or you can pack this for your kids Tiffin too!.

I blog about a dish / recipe, when my friends at office and family tastes and compliments the dish!  So in short...all the dishes are tested, tried and tasted!

Let me not take much of your time and quickly share the very famous snack recipe/ street food from Andra..."Punugulu".

The weather is very pleasant these days and you can enjoy this crispy dish hot with chutney or sauce.

Ingredients :

   1½ cups idli batter
   2 tablespoons rava
   2 tablespoons rice flour
   1 onion, finely chopped
   2 tablespoons coriander leaves
   1 piece grated ginger
1 or 2 green chilies finely chopped
   Finely chopped curry leaves
   Grated carrot - 1 medium
Finely chopped Capcicum - 1 medium
Salt & Pepper powder to taste
   Asafetodia  - 1/4th tsp
   Oil for frying

Method :

Take idli batter in a mixing bowl. Whisk it very well. Add rava and mix well. Add 2 tablespoons rice flour and the batter should not be watery.  Add all the other ingredients except oil and mix well.   Heat the oil in a Kadai and when it is hot, with the help of your hands drop the batter and cook on medium flame.  Flip both sides and fry till golden brown.

For all those who are health conscious, you may heat an Appe Patra and grease the moulds with few drops of oil. Spoon in the prepared batter. Flip after few minutes and cook till golden brown. Serve Punugulu hot with chutney or Sauce.

I await your feedback and comments!
