Rava Upma (Semolina Upma) - Simple Indian breakfast
Time has just been flying... I
have been very busy since the beginning of the month. Children have started with their vacation... We
had a wedding in the family yesterday, and we were busy shopping for the 4 day
function till last week:). My husband's
cousin sister's daughter Sonam tied the sacred knot with Vikas... It was a great event where the
traditional Kerala wedding was organized in the morning at Krishna Temple followed
by delicious Sadhya on the banana leaf.
The boy is from Delhi and in the
evening they had the Pheras (this was the first time, we got to attend a North
Indian wedding)... Thanks to Sonam! We
got to meet relatives during this event.
Most of them had come down from
Kerala / Nagpur... We had a good family
time together and a stress free day as
we all were so engrossed in getting ready for the function, eating and
enjoying!
Since we were busy shopping last 2
weeks, we had no option but eat out. We have been eating out at Hotel's and
experimenting on new dishes... After having so much of rich food... it always
feel good to eat something simple.
Today, I am sharing the recipe of Rava Upma (Suji Upma) which is nutritious, tasty, very easy and a popular
breakfast dish in India. It is made by mixing and cooking roasted rava (suji,
semolina), seasoning and sauted vegetables in water.
I have experimented with this dish
several times, and the secret to making this dish is roasting the Semolina well
and adding hot water for cooking the
dish :)
This is very good option
during busy week days and also good for kids... So you are a beginner or a
bachelor... you can follow this simple south Indian breakfast recipe and discover how easy it
is to make at home :)
