Sherbat of Love / Mohabet ka Sherbat

Khadki Bazar is one of the market areas where we buy our groceries, vegetables etc.  You can find this place very crowded on weekdays and weekends…  On the way to the market there is a Dargah i.e. Dargah Shareef very close to the main Khadki Bus Stop… Right from our childhood we have seen a stall that sells Sherbat... I never tasted this but my son  / sister always had this Sherbat whenever they visited Khadki.

We had watermelons at home and he suggested we make this Sherbat at home… We did not get Rooh Afza to make this so made it with Rose syrup  and basil seeds from the stores and by evening instead of having our regular tea we enjoyed having this drink. This is an extremely easy to make fresh cooler which is very famous during Ramzan.

This is a beautiful concoction of Watermelon, Rooh afza or Rose Syurup and the secret behind this taste is the mix of flavours that comes from adding them in chilled milk with chopped watermelons that adds a crunch to this drink.

The colour of this drink is pinkish red and resembles love and hence this name I guess – Mohabbat ka Sherbat (Sherbat of Love).

The picture of the final product is clicked by my son who is very passionate about photography!

Do try this simple and refreshing drink as all ingredients would be readily available in your kitchen… so let’s not waste time and make the Sherbat of Love

Ingredients :

Milk – Half Litre (chilled and not boiled)
Rose Syrup or Rooh afza – ¼ cup
1 cup watermelon deseeded and chopped into fine chunks
Basil seeds / Sabja (Soaked in water 2 tsp)
Ice cubes as required

Method :

Take a bowl and add in Chilled milk some ice cubes.  To this add rose syrup and mix this well.  Mix in the watermelon chunks, Sabja seeds and allow it to chill for around half an hour so that the flavours come together….. Pour into tall glass and enjoy this drink.. While you sip your drink take some time to leave a feedback / review for this recipe.
