Moong Dal Nuggets - a perfect evening snack!
It was raining so heavily in all parts of Pune
last week.. After it stopped raining, I went out with my sister to do some
shopping which was pending for a very long time....The roads as usual were all
clogged and water piled up due to heavy rains and there were many trees that
fell on the roads due to the heavy storm and rains. There was heavy traffic jam on the roads
while we were on our way...
We finished shopping and visited "Aur Irani
Chai" a joint in Aundh... We enjoyed the Irani Chai and Bun Maska at this
joint. After we were back I experimented
making Moong Dal Nuggets which was a perfect recipe for this rainy season.
We can actually make it with less oil as it is the
healthy version of deep fried nuggets. I preferred shallow frying it for a
change :)
Let's take a look at this yummy snack which goes
well with a hot cup of tea... So look out for a cozy part of your balcony and
bite into these hot nuggets and sip your tea while you enjoy the nature &
the drizzling rains!
Ingredients :
Moong dal - 1/2 cup (soaked in water for one 1 hour)
Potato- 2 (boiled)
Bread crumbs- 1 cup
Green coriander - 2 to3 tbsp

Coriander powder- 1/2 tsp
Red chili powder - 1/4 tsp
Amchur powder - 1/4 tsp
Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida - 2 pinch
Ginger - 1 inch piece (grated )
Green chili - 2 (finely chopped)
Salt- 1/2 tsp (to taste)
Method :
Wash the Moong dal and cook this in water (around
1 to 1.5 cup). Cook this till it is firm... do not cook it soft. Drain the
water from the dal and allow it to cool. Peel the
potatoes and mash them finely. Add the potato and bread crumbs in
a bowl, add all spices and mix them thoroughly. Knead with hand and
prepare the batter.
Heat oil in a pan. Take out little mixture give it a ball
shape, place it in your hand and give it an oval shape.
Prepare all the Nuggets similarly. Shallow fry them till crisp and golden. Serve Moong Dal
Nuggets with Green Chutney & Sauce.
