Instant Kharvas / Milk Pudding
We had a lovely long weekend....just did not realize how time
flew... Pooja & Prashant our family friends visited us from Mumbai. They
visited us for the first time and I wanted it to be a special time spend
with us.
I made Aloo Tikki, Fish Fry, Crispy Prawns & Chicken
Tikka which we all relished... after eating the starters, we could eat very little of the main
course. After dinner, we all went down in the society campus to have a stroll
and enjoyed the cool breeze.
It was now time to enjoy the desserts... I had made Biscuit
pudding and Kharvas...It was super delicious... they just got over in minutes!
Indira, my colleague from Chennai had visited our Pune Office
and she had come home for dinner last week.. I had made Kharvas for the first
time and she enjoyed the dessert!
After
getting wonderful feedback from her on this dessert, I decided to make this again for my
guests who visited me over the weekend too!
Kharvas - soft, sweet and delicate white cakes /pudding is a
Maharashtrian delicacy. They just melt
in the mouth. This is normally made with colostrum milk. But since this
milk is not available always... this is a quick recipe to enjoy this dessert
any day and any time!
It's now time to jot down the recipe!
Ingredients :
Milk - 1 cup
Thick Curd / Yoghurt - 1 cup
Condensed Milk - 1 cup
Corn Flour - 2 tsp
Nutmeg Powder
Method :
In a bowl take condensed milk and mix the corn flour
well. To this add the milk and then the
curd and mix well together. In a cooker
or Idli steamer put water and allow it
to boil. Now transfer the mixture in the
steel container and steam this for 35 to 40 minutes on low flame. Allow it to cool... Garnish with Nutmeg
Powder, Safrron strands and cool in the fridge and allow it to set for few
hours. The divine dessert is ready to
serve!
Do try making this and leave your feedback... do not forget
to share and like this recipe.
