Mutter Paneer

I was extremely busy with Ganesh Festival Celebrations in my society in the evening and attending office during the day and hence did not find time to post recipes...
Sharma Aunty, Manu Didi and myself plan these events in our society... It was a fantastic event this year too... Children put up dance performance, fashion show, song performance, antakshari etc... the seven days were lively and this is one festival where all the society members come together and celebrate keeping away differences and grudges.  We organized food stalls, where children stole the show as they were so enthusiastic and had great marketing skills to sell their food / drinks :).

We organized Awakening speech by BK Lakshmi didi, which definitely helped each one of us to know the secret to stay happy, healthy and free from stress and depression.  We had Tambola one of the days and this year, my children and I were lucky to win few gifts...I participated in the Atharva Shirsha Pooja and we organized for Satyanarayan Pooja on one of the days.

This year we decided to engage a caterer to arrange for the Dinner as most of the ladies had health issues.  Every year, each one of us cooked something or the other and came together to serve this as Mahaprasad to all.  I guess it's a good idea to cater from out as ladies also get to enjoy the fun or otherwise they are busy cooking in the kitchen.  I had made Mutter Paneer recently and it tasted somewhat similar to the Aloo Mutter Sabji the caterer had served for Dinner.... Make this and enjoy with Phulka, Roti or Poori's.   Don't forget to post your feedback!

Ingredients :

Paneer - 200 gms (cubed into pieces)
Mutter - 1 cup  (boiled / blanched)

For Masala :

Oil - 2 tsp
Cumin / Jeera Seeds - 1 tsp
Onion - 1 chopped
Ginger - 1/2 inch
Garlic - 2 cloves
Green Chillies - 2
Tomato - 2 medium

Saute the above well... cool and grind to a paste without adding water

For Gravy :

Oil - 1 tbsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Water - 1 cup
Coriander leaves to garnish

Method:

In a Kadai, add oil and when hot, add the ground masala and saute till the oil separates out.  To this masala, now add all the ingredients under Gravy up to salt and mix well.   Add water and allow to boil for 2 to 3 minutes.  To this now add the cubed Paneer and Boiled Peas and cooked for 5 minutes.  Garnish Coriander leaves and serve hot with Phulka, Roti, Poori's etc.
