Home made Hummus - Easy Dip
I ordered for
Hummus & Pita Bread at Maarakesh Restaurant at Aundh... I liked the taste
and also tried this recipe earlier at home but did not get time to click
pictures. Recently, I made this again
and have clicked few pictures...so
thought of sharing it with you folks.
This can be refrigerated upto 3 days in the fridge. I enjoyed eating this with Jowari Bhakri
& some crunchy sliced carrot's.
Hummus means
Chickpeas in Arabic... It is popular in the Middle East and Mediterranean, as well as in the Middle Eastern Cuisine around the globe.
You only need few
Ingredients to make this dish... It’s naturally Gluten-Free, Vegan, and
Healthy!
Ingredients :
1 cup dried chickpeas (Kabuli Chana soaked in cold
water overnight)
4 to 5 garlic cloves
5 tbsp - Sesame seeds
1/4th tsp cumin seeds (roasted)
6-8 Pepper corns (roasted)
Lemon Juice - 1 small lemon
Salt to taste
Olive Oil - 1/4th cup
Red Chilli powder - for garnishing
Few coriander leaves
Method
:
Rinse
the soaked Chickpeas well and add enough water (around 2 cups) or until water
covers the chickpeas. Pressure cook them
for around 20 minutes on low flame after one whistle. Once the chickpeas are
cooked, allow them to cool a bit.
Now
put this in food processor or grinder with enough warm water from the
cooked chickpeas and grind for 3-5
minutes at low speed to a thick soft paste. (Adjust the water as it should not
get watery). Add the salt, garlic, olive oil, sesame seeds, roasted cumin & pepper and
grind to fine paste. To this mixture,
add the lemon juice and grind for a minute. Check the salt. Garnish with Chilli Powder and some Olive oil
and few Coriander leaves.
Enjoy
this as a dip with crunchy veg, bread sticks
or warm flat breads.
